From the very first GTA game, trains travelled round and round in perpetuity. Rockstar has an ongoing obsession with circles. Point-to-point lines are the order of the day. Most people want to go in and out of a city, not sideways around the edge. Orbital metro lines exist, but systems entirely comprised of circles are few and far between. They’re not so much a means of getting from A to B as from A to A. The movements of fairground rides might be fun, but they don’t go anywhere, and purposely so.

For that matter, rollercoasters, ghost trains and log flumes end up where they started, going round and round endlessly.

And what about fairgrounds? Ferris wheels, merry-go-rounds, waltzers and those freaky teacups all gyrate in order to delight us, terrify us or make us vomit (depending on your disposition and alcohol consumption).
